Ancient lore has it that the three points of the trinity knot were for the earth, the sea and the sky. The trinity knot was later used by the early Christian settlers in Ireland to illustrate the holy trinity in religious manuscripts. On a more spiritual level, it has also been known to symbolise life, death, and rebirth.
