When Angels are near...feathers appear!!

We just love feathers here in the glass studio, we create and make them in all shapes & colours, and then sting them with little sparkling glass gems.....great for hanging them in a window, and letting the light shine through to illuminate the coloured glass, or better still, leave your window open and watch your feather dance in the wind.....

The significance of feathers as a symbolic expression is evident in many cultures. For instance, in Native American culture, a feather symbolizes trust, honor, strength, wisdom, power and freedom, and it is expected to be treated with the utmost respect. In Egyptian culture, the feather symbolizes Shu, the Egyptian god of air, and Ma’at, the goddess of truth and order. In Egyptian mythology, Ma’at weighs the hearts of deceased people against a feather to determine their worthiness to enter the afterlife. In Christianity, feathers represent the presence of Angels, and even more, stand for prayer and faith. The symbol of three feathers was popular in ancient Christianity, especially among the Medici, who used and wore them as an emblem representing the three virtues of faith, hope and charity.
